Adding value to your project and to the community

Sustainable development needs more than just good intentions to deliver real and lasting results. Sodexo’s Total Remote Site Solutions have a proven track record for success, around the globe, and directly contribute to the economic and social development of the countries in which we operate. We know what it takes to ensure Quality of Life for our customers, and the communities of our host countries. Depend on us for the right in-country connections for everything from hiring local people to purchasing locally sourced products.

Your project offers a welcome chance for people in emerging economies to get a jumpstart towards a better future. We actively search for the most promising local initiatives to stimulate economic growth, such as training centres or the creation of micro-enterprises. You can trust our expertise to intuitively and effectively collaborate with local governments and NGOs – leave it to us to get the green light for realistic and long-lasting community projects. At the end of the day, everyone benefits from better Quality of Life – now and for generations to come.

Analyzing impact from the start

We set the groundwork for success right from the start. Sodexo’s planning begins before you’re in the country, or the first design is even drawn. We conduct thorough impact-assessment studies, enabling us to accurately allocate local resources to the needs of the project. No detail is missed, never an after thought – just perfect results!

Recruiting skilled local workers

This is a win-win move that makes sense for everyone. You benefit from valuable local resources and your project helps to stimulate the local economy. Sodexo recruits skilled workers from the local community, sets up job-training programmes and promotes management positions. Our efforts ensure satisfied workers today, with the assurance of transferable skills for the future when your project is completed.

Purchasing from local suppliers

Purchasing from local suppliers and supporting the creation of micro-enterprises makes good business sense – and creates invaluable goodwill for your project. We provide the technical skills and training to ensure the highest-quality standards. Everyone profits in this positive scenario: local suppliers deliver top-level services, while gaining new markets for their products and services.

Measuring the results

Sodexo adheres to strict international reporting criteria, such as World Bank Guidelines and Equator Principles, so you can depend on straight answers. Our sustainable development programmes are scrutinized through regular reporting based on KPI extracted from our Global Reporting Initiatives: such as the percentage of local hires, local procurement, waste recycles, etc.  We’re happy to comply – this analysis offers definitive proof that a project is on-track and productive. You gain the tools to validate the impact of your project, paving the way to boost your company’s image and industry reputation.

Establishing valuable partnerships

Need a tailored solution that goes beyond your existing project initiatives?  Strategic planning and partnership building are our strongest assets.  We’ll carefully listen to your objectives and then craft a plan to successfully establish partnerships with key stakeholders, such as development agencies, NGOs and government bodies.

Contributing to the local economies of Peru

Sodexo’s proactive approach to Sustainable Development generates sustainable economic success stories everywhere we go. We’re proud of the significant and lasting benefits our efforts produced in Peru.  Here are some highlights of this multi-faceted development project:

Empowering local farmers

Working with the ONG SwissContact, Sodexo provided small local agriculturalists in Peru with the assistance and training they needed to boost quality standards and improve their manufacturing processes. We also purchase the products that this ambitious ONG helps to cultivate.

Fueling micro-enterprises

Thanks to assistance from Sodexo, the micro-enterprise Colinas Verdes gained the expertise to raise their quality standards for producing fine marmalades, yoghurts, bee honey and Andean cereals. They are now a key part of the supply chain, locally and nationally, and are the top supplier to Sodexo in Cajamarca.

Spreading the benefits down the line

Industrias Alivagra got the help it needed to expand from a small micro-entreprise to become a major supplier of yogurt. Sodexo’s support enabled them to improve their production processes and forge a successful balance between technology and artisan attention to quality. Sales and new contracts are pouring in too, thanks to our logistic assistance.

Promoting real self-sufficiency

We opened the doors of our training centre to Comañia Minera Antamina, a copper mining operation, so they can develop their own technological institutes and training programmes that focus on the creation of micro-enterprises. Local people benefit from new economic opportunities instead of depending solely on the mine for employment.

Providing valuable training and skills

In cooperation with Huari Prelate, we are operating an educational centre that provides about 200 young people hands-on training in gastronomy and marketable job skills. We also purchase what the centre produces – for example, farm-raised trout. The annual income is divided between the workers and local residents receive 20% of the assets for the town’s educational needs.
