Pantone, one of the world’s leading color authorities, has selected orange as the trend-setting color for 2012. Every year, Pantone flexes its influential design muscle by choosing a color that has a significant influence on product development and design in numerous industries, from fashion to technology.
PANTONE® 17-1463 Tangerine Tango is Pantone’s selection for 2012 and we are invited to “dance into the New Year with this vivacious and appealing reddish orange.”
Well, why not? A squirt of orange could create a welcome sense of optimism for the year ahead. In my site’s header above, you’ll notice an apple that is actually an orange…I’m ready for 2012!
“Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. jlkjjljjj ljljljljlj ljljjlj ljljljll ljlj j
Wow, time to tango! I can appreciate this deliciously over-the-top description. I had a lot of fun writing this text for Viktor & Rolf’s BOMBLICIOUS perfume.
But let’s keep thinking orange…to see how clothing designers are responding, have a look at Pantone’s fashion color report.
I like orange, to be honest it isn’t one of my favorite colors
One reason is that orange is not the most flattering color against my skin. Sephora to the rescue! This beauty product retailer has partnered with Pantone to create a Color of the Year beauty collection. The collection features eye shadow, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish and accessories, and will be available in Sephora Americas beginning March 2012. So add that to the list of upcoming orange-oriented products and either cheer or cringe – there will be no escape from this love-it or hate-it color.

If 2012 is going to be an orange-saturated year, what can we expect from orange personality types? Mr. Boelcke’s site reveals more….
